CoolCare Names Alzheimer’s Society as Annual Official Charity

Care home management software provider, CoolCare, has today announced that Alzheimer’s Society will be the company’s official charity from April 19 – March 20.  The charity was chosen through a company-wide vote.

CoolCare Managing Director, Fiona Hale, was delighted to announce the news:

“It was so important to us that our team chose CoolCare’s official charity on our behalf. When the results of the vote came in, there was a clear winning cause.  It is a wonderful point of pride that our team are so passionate about supporting Alzheimer’s Society!  Dementia is something that touches most of our lives at some point, whether a loved one or our own future health.  Working in the elderly care sector means it’s a subject especially close to all our hearts.

I know that our team will throw all their weight behind our support.  If we can make a difference to raising awareness of dementia, even in a small way, knowing we may have helped a family, who are facing the daunting reality of supporting a loved one with dementia, will be a big motivation to us all.”

Throughout the year, CoolCare will be involved in fundraising activity in support of the Alzheimer’s Society.  The company will also use it is an opportunity to build their own understanding of the disease so all its employees can foster wider acknowledgement of

the impact of dementia.

Matt Burgoyne, Software Developer, will take a leading role in CoolCare’s support of the Alzheimer’s Society as CoolCare’s “Charity Champion”.  He will ensure that CoolCare has a full programme of activity throughout the year to ensure the opportunities to support the society is maximised.

Commenting on his new role, Matt said:

“I look forward to helping generate funds and raise awareness for the Alzheimer’s Society, who do fantastic work. It is such an under-discussed topic, particularly considering that by 2025 1m people in the UK will have dementia.  So little is known about this devastating disease and we hope that CoolCare’s support goes some way in helping to promote public awareness and support Alzheimer’s Society’s vital work in research and service provision.”

Julie Lee, Community Fundraiser – West Yorkshire at Alzheimer’s Society said:

“We are looking forward to working with CoolCare over the coming year. It’s thanks to the support from companies such as CoolCare that we are able to raise awareness and much needed funds to support the many people affected by dementia.”
